Boxer Colors
Boxers come in a variety of patterns, but only two
colors are acceptable in the show ring, and for
breeding.
• Fawn, which is a solid red color varies
from light tan to a deep mahogany.
• Brindle is a
striping of black over the fawn base color and can
range from sparse but clearly
defined black stripes
on a fawn background, to such a heavy concentration
of black striping
that the fawn is barely, although
clearly, shows through. This may create the
appearance
known as the “reverse brindling”
– These
are often called “reverse”, “sealed” or “black”
brindles.NOTE: **The Boxer does not carry the gene for
black color coat.**
Unfortunately there are those who try to sell “rare
black” or “sealed” Boxers. These Boxers will have some fawn
coloring. If not, the Boxer is clearly NOT a purebred
Boxer. |
